The Cool Lights CL-255PMD 2 x 55 watt Portable Fluorescent Video Softlight is about the lightest fixture of its kind available today for location video and film production. This is the dimming version--continuously dimmable from 2% to 100% intensity with a dial adjustment. Weighing in at only 6.6 pounds (thanks to the tough, but lightweight polycarbonate shell and aluminum skeleton), this fixture can put out an equivalent of almost 500 (tungsten) watts of flicker-free and quiet light for drawing only 110 actual watts. It is a unique and innovative hybrid, portable professional lighting fixture incorporating a classic outer design.

The CL-255PMD comes with 2 High CRI (>87) 55 watt bulbs (available in choice of 3200K or 5600K). It's universal voltage electronic ballast adapts automatically to your country's line voltage (from 100 volts to 240 volts 50/60 hz) and has an output driving frequency of 40khz to guarantee flicker-free performance. Includes a 16 foot power cord adaptable through IEC adapter plug, 1 power switch, manual dimmer dial, special multi-axis mounting (MAM) and barn doors. The MAM, (also known as a "lollipop") is a well-known swivel grip mount that allows all angle adjustment as well as horizontal or vertical use of the fixture. A unique PVC flange adapter is also part of the fixture and is useful for holding eggcrate filters or other kinds of diffusion panels tightly but allowing a quick release.

Another shot shows a back view with the included MAM and the optional CL-MPSA stand adapter and optional CL-LS2 portable light stand. The CL-MPSA helps keep the center of gravity over the stand. You can also use a grip head adapter with a 3/8" (10mm) rod hole for adapting the MAM stem to a stand, but the CL-MPSA will keep your fixture more balanced.
