This is the FREE download for the CL-BD4 Barndoor template as shown in our first Cool Lights Video Magazine Edition. Simply download, print out in 100% scale (no scaling at all) on a 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper. Tape to a piece of sheet metal of 22 gauge to 24 gauge and cut out the pattern. The hinges should really be 22 gauge for best results but barndoors could be anything from 22 to 32 gauge. Drill all holes in the template with a 9/64" drill bit and bend all the hinge tabs up. Then you are ready to attach your hinges to the fixture with rivets or 6-32 1/2" self tapping sheet metal screws. Next, the barndoors to the hinges with rivets on one side of the hinge and 6-32 1/2" machine screws, small compression springs and locking or wing nuts on the other side for best results. The quick and dirty method is to use all rivets on the hinges. The only drawback with this is that after a time, the metal wears down a bit and the barndoors don't always stick in place like they should.
