We went through several prototypes on the way to this fixture but now we've finally got the best overall usable design. Our CL-SFT1 fluorescent video softbox fixture is 5 3/8" (135cm) diameter, allowing it to work in 5.5" (140cm) inner diameter or larger softbox speedrings. Thus it can be a retrofit to replace your current incandescent, mogul-based solution with a fluorescent one and save up to 75% per year on the electricity you would normally use to operate that softbox. You can also use our own CL-SFT2424 as well too. The CL-SFT1 was especially designed for a mogul (E39/E40) base "8U" 125 to 250 watt compact fluorescent (CFL) bulb. It will, however, work with any mogul base bulb up to 600 watts. Even a metal halide bulb should work fine in this fixture! The bulb screws into the base which is recessed into the fixture and provides a perfect fit to support the bulb well.

We sell the CL-SFT2424 softbox and the CL-20032 (3200K) or CL-20056 (5600K) 200w mogul based bulbs separately or in a kit configuration. The fixture includes the pictured mounting yoke and a convenient handle on the back to help with positioning of angle. Just loosen the tough phenolic adjustable bar handle, position angle while holding the back handle with your other hand and re-tighten the bar handle. You'll need a stand-to-yoke or TVMP adapter to attach to the yoke to adapt to a 5/8" baby male spud at the top of most stands.
